This is a super gift for any young person 5 years and older to practice taking photos and video. My first camera was given to me by my Grandparents and it was a Box Brownie. At the age of about 7, I was given a stylish Kodak Ektra 2 camera, where the handle encased the lens and body. It took simple photos, with no zoom, no special effects and certainly no video. Today you can buy this amazingly robust and well-made camera, probably for the same amount in real terms as my parents paid for the Ektra. This can take still shots, it has a 4 times digital zoom, a 5mp sensor, it has post editing effects which can easily be added, a flash and a nice video function. What more could you want? The photos it takes are OK. They are not top quality, but they are perfectly OK. It is so very easy to use and I would say 5 years plus will have no problem in using it. It is robust and can be dropped on soft ground and I would be confident it will survive. It takes 4 AA batteries. It has a small built-in memory which allows for about 200 photos and a micro SD card slot for expansion of the memory. Overall this is a great little camera and any child would love to own it. I took one star off, as in some limited circumstances I found the lens shutter was a bit slow and the result was a blurred picture. Recommended.

This is for my granddaughter for her birthday. It looks great and the button on the back is great as you cab test it and it shows you all the types of pictures you can develop

Thought this was amazing. Quality of the photos are good and games are fun. However had o of known its battery operated I wouldn’t of purchased. I plugged in the usb thinking it charges it and it doesn’t.I never saw anywhere saying battery operated but maybe that’s just me. Birthday girl loves it tho despite that. Will invest in rechargeable batteries because we will go through some.

Bought this for a 6-year-old boy who loves taking pictures and playing in nature. But why on earth would the unit come loaded with cheap arcade games from the ’80s?? Which are the baselines for today’s crack addict style games, that hijack dopamine & serotonin production? There is ZERO reason for the games been preloaded.Do you want them? Download or add them. Later. Post-purchase.This is pure greed by VTech and I am very unimpressed and unhappy. I do not want my son exposed to this crud & if I do, I will choose it (consciously) & in what way that exposure comes. The camera is going back & a new option will be ordered.

Bought this item as a present in advance. Gave this present this weekend (a month after purchase) and onced opened saw that there is a big scratch over the the digital viewing screen. Now too late to get a refund!

You get a lot for your money! Lots of different features – frames, coloured screens, 4 games, voice recorder and changer.Bought it for a 3.5year old and she loves it. She finds it really easy to use as well as hold. Very impressed!Batteries barely lasted a day after Christmas gift. Had read reviews about batteries and they are true! It would be better if rechargeable as I know I will be spending a lot on batteries in the coming months!

Great product. Bought for you 4 year old son for holiday so that we could take pictures while at the beach, zoo, aquarium etc and he loves. Added bonus of “snapchat” type features so he can take funny pictures of the family. The games are also handy although at times are hard for a 4 year old to understand how to control and/or move certain things

Bought this for my grandson’s 4th birthday having already bought one for one of my other grandsons three years ago and it is still going strong. It is very well made – robust even for the liveliest of children and is very easy to use for a little one. The new features on this latest version are great and will give hours of fun just changing the backgroounds and producing hilarious photos as a result. I would highy recommend it. The only gripe I have is that it works on batteries, why on earth don’t they produce one which can be recharged – much easier for busy parents than hunting down batteries all the time.

The camera works out of the box (no need to take it and set it up before wrapping it) and is a very decent first camera for a child. My 4.5 year old daughter can operate it and actually sussed out the different main features faster than I did! As with most digital cameras it has a digital screen displaying the live image, but it also has a double viewfinder which teaches youngsters about lining up an image by eye, but without them having to coordinate closing one eye to do it (which might be tricky for smaller children). The camera has features found on adult cameras including a 4 times zoom, a flash which can be turned on or off or put on automatic, and a timer, plus it also has a rear camera for selfies, coloured filters (including black and white), a video camera option, voice recorder, fun photo effects, a basic photo editor and some games which can be disabled or limited through the parental controls. It’s a robust camera with a rubber shell and a sturdy feel, and it takes 5 megapixel photos. Whilst the picture quality isn’t fantastic, it is much better outdoors and this is a great camera for a child to learn to use a camera with, whilst being relatively hardy to being dropped etc, and the photos themselves not taking up too much space on a computer. The internal memory stores about 200 photos, and we purchased a 16GB micro SD card to expand the memory (it will take up to 32GB), which will store approx 14,000 photos or 900 minutes of video, which is plenty. The camera talks to a PC using the provided micro USB cable and Dropbox is able to recognise the camera and download the new photos automatically. My only gripe, and the reason I’m giving it 4 stars rather than 5, is that it runs on batteries (4xAA) rather than being rechargeable. I would expect any digital camera in this day and age to be rechargeable so didn’t even think to check. The batteries supplied with the unit only lasted 1 day, so we have purchased some Energizer extreme rechargeable batteries and they are lasting longer.

My twins love their cameras. Great toy. You can put a limit on the amount of time they can play the games, which is great for parents. The only down side is the batteries don’t last long. It’s costing me a fortune replacing them all the time.
