The perfect mamaTENS machine is safe and effective to use from the onset of labour providing mums-to-be with pain relief in the comfort of their own home.
The unit also enables the lady to remain mobile and upright, which can aid descent and dilatation.
TENS could also be used to relieve back pain in the last 3 weeks of pregnancy, to ease post-operative pain following caesarean, perineal tear or episiotomy and is safe to be used in conjunction with other forms of pain relief during labour.

- Do NOT use if you have a pacemaker (or if you have a heart rhythm problem) or with any electronic medical devices.
- Do NOT use during the first three months of pregnancy.
- Do NOT use on the abdomen in the later stages of pregnancy.

My wife found this really useful during labour despite being quite sceptical about it. It was easy to use with clear instructions.I would recommend using it before labour to get used to it and can help with back pain.I have noted there are TENs machines on here which look exactly the same but aren’t for labour!

From what I have heard some people do not find these machines useful, but in our case, it made such a great difference to the management of my wife’s pain, and although she was hesitant to start to use it, she was delighted once she did. 100% delighted to have purchased this.I just suggest that you make sure that you test out the placement of the pads and how the system/programs work before the big day, so that you are less likely to misuse it and not feel the full benefits of the product. It is a strange sensation, but works in taking the edge of the contraction pains.

Without going into too many details of my wife’s labour, I don’t know what we would have done without this TENS machine. We applied the pads very early on during labour (really easy to do) and my wife was able to easily control when he next surge came on. She was up and running in minutes leaving me to get ready for the pending hospital trip/panic(!)She never got anywhere near the higher levels before switching to gas and air at the hospital but she swears by this product and has recommended to her NCT friends.

Had a home birth and limited pain relief so was eager to have a TENS to hand to help me out. Well it was a pain in the back (literally haha) – it was still faffy pressing buttons in the middle of contractions and I found it so irritating with wires dangling off me that I ended up ripping it off and throwing it across the room in frustration! Ended up palming it off on another pregnant friend so hope she liked it more!

I heard about a Tens for labour through my midwife. As I was planing on having a natural labour I though in giving this machine a try as a first time mum. I think it definitely helped me. I cannot say that it got rid of the pain completely but made it easier and distract me throughout. Don’t regret the purchase because when you are there anything that can help and is not harmful is more than welcome.

Can’t rate this item higher – it’s amazing. Great value, easy to use (if i can use it anyone can) and came in good time for our son to be born.I have just become a first time mum and ordered this product as had heard about using TENS machine in labour. Some women get on with it and some don’t, so thought if it’s pain relief that doesn’t affect baby i would give it a go. I thought i could hire it from Boots (which you can) but where i am, only online. When i went online i found it was just as cheap to buy 1 plus didn’t have to think about returning and worrying if it would come in time for when i went into labour. It says to practice with it first but i didn’t put it on until i was in active labour. Our son decided to come in the “2nd beast from the east snow” with drama of car not starting for the first time ever in 6/7 years… got to birthing centre and was over 9cm dilated… got through all that on this TENS machine. Really great buy. As long as you put it on correctly, once you find the program to suit you you’ll be well away. Good luck mums-to-be. Many thanks to all the people behind this product.

I bought the Mama TENS in the run up to my second labour. The first one, though it resulted in a healthy mum and baby, was very medicalised and I was hoping for a more natural delivery without an epidural this time. I also had a very long pre labour at home the first time so wanted something that I could use from the onset, without being dependent on the midwife assessment.I put it on at home at 9am and delivered at 3pm. I kept the TENS one throughout the entire labour and only took it off to step in the birth pool right before the birth.On the positive side :- the machine gave me some distraction and power over the pain in the early stages, which helped me build my self confidence- instructions are easy to follow, the machine is light and I hanged it around my neck with the cord provided- I think it did take away most of the back pain associated with contractions.On the less positive side :- not convinced it helped with the tummy pain associated with contractions- as I was coping well with labour, I kept it on the entire time as I was too afraid switching it off would make the pain worse. It means that I don’t really know to what extent it reduced the pain.Overall, I’d recommend the product because it is fairly cheap and also because at the end of the day, I had a natural delivery whilst using it so it must have had an effect.

I used this for pretty much my whole labour. Could not get an epidural and this helped a great deal to manage the pain (with Gaz n air) and my baby was almost 5 kilos … So I highly recommend!

Arrived very quickly. Tested it out and seems to be working ok and you do seem to be able to afust settings and it seemed to get stronger. Not used for labour yet so can’t comment on how helpful it will be. Seems quite price competitive. It was a but painful to remove the pads as they are very sticky but they are very sticky which will be useful for labour when you want to keep this on for ages without fuss. Was easy and quick to set up. Recommend trying before the big day so you can use it quickly when needed.

This was a godsend during my labour. It got me to fully dilated without any other pain medicine. The pads need someone to place correctly for you but once on they don’t move. It says to discard them once used, but the initial pads got me through 4hrs of practice labour and then 4.5hrs of real labour!! Just be aware that it can interfer with some of the heart beat trackers they use. I was really pleased I had this!! The boost button was excellent when the contractions came on.
