Satisfying Slicing Sounds

Ideally suited for stocking a play kitchen or shopping trolley, this cutting fruit set combines hands-on fun and unique learning with creative play. The seven included fruits (pear, orange, melon, kiwi, strawberry, banana, and lemon) can be cut up into 17 hand-painted wooden pieces using the included wooden knife, and then neatly tucked away in the sturdy storage crate. Kids can’t resist the realistic “crunch” sound when the fruit is sliced.

A Delicious Way to Learn

In addition to teaching fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, this set encourages imaginative and independent play — and even introduces the concept of fractions. A child can use the wooden knife to cut up the fruit and count all the pieces, then you can talk together about cutting the pear, orange, strawberry, lemon, and kiwi in half; the banana in thirds; and the melon in fourths.

I love everything about this set! It really keeps my son occupied. He feels included and doing what the adults are doing. It comes with a safe wooden knife and the cutting points of the fruit are well adjusted for that. The velcro on the inside holds the fruit together giving it a very real like sound when chopping it. Even I love these toys. A big shout out and thank you to melissa and doug.. whoever they are.

Nice toy. The slice of melon don’t stay well as is too heavy to support the velcro attachment and should be put aside to lay in order to stay ok for cutting. The edges of the pear came chipped and scratched as if it was used. Overall, Good quality toy and happy of the purchase.

Wow! What great quality and such a good idea!I gave it my daughter for Christmas and she loves it! She plays with it everyday and has very quickly improved her dexterity skills when holding the knife and the chopping action. (I’ve added a lift video of her playing with it when she first got it). It’s great quality wood and such a good idea! I’ve already bought the pizza set for her birthday! She’ll be 2 years old, so even though the set recommends from 3yrs +, (I took a risk as she’s quite advanced for her age) and it’s really helping her develop her dexterity skills.I would highly recommend this set and the “Melissa and Dough” series. Their products are fantastic quality, great value and my daughter loves them! Thanks Amazon for the great deal and great product description! 🙂

First buy excellent qualify and well made ,each item is a good size, one of the best wooden food educational brands I believe to last the wood is well made and stronger , I do use other brands to however Melissa and doug is a brand I tend to use a lot in our home as it is very reliable in my opinion.

The fruit are bigger than I was expecting which is good in that they are easier to handle but negative in that you can’t fit so many pieces in a bowl for mixing and playing at cooking. After a few days of enthusiastic play by my 16 month old, the paint is quite severely chipped around the edges and corners, but I suppose that is unavoidable. The velcro holds the halves together loosely which makes it easy to get the knife in, and he can successfully ‘cut’ the fruit with the wooden knife provided, which is reassuringly blunt and rounded. The main negative, which almost induced me to return the fruit, is the melon. This is in 4 pieces, the middle 2 of which both have velcro hooks on both sides, so cannot be joined together. This must be a production fault, as otherwise the pieces would only have velcro on one side. A bit annoying but I had these delivered to Germany and decided it wasn’t worth returning them. My son loves them and has a great time cutting, mixing and playing with them.

I bought it for Christmas present for my daughter, so she has it for 1 week yet and the fruits are not jointed together. Not looking like one all piece. Very disappointed, waste of money. Expecting more quality from this brand. We have aMore toyes from you which are good, but this is poor maded.

Good quality wood but the Velcro isn’t very sturdy so I’m sure I’ll haveto replace them with new Velcro throughout my little ones childhood. I also wish the fruits were fully painted to look like the real fruit. Some of the fruits are lazily painted and it confuses my daughter who is learning about different fruits.

My two-year old loves this fruit. Who would have thought cutting a little velcro dot over and over again would create so much fun!? It’s good for learning colours as well. The only fruit I don’t love is the kiwifruit which is more grey than light brown, and the banana could have done with a bit of black on the ends to be closer to a real one, but would buy this again regardless. And it is a toy which needs adult interaction, otherwise once all the fruit has been “cut” (in about 30 seconds!) the fun is over. But my daughter will cut this over and over again, and make me dozens of cups of tea with her tea set, when I’m sitting on the floor with her.

It’s reasonably well made and colourful and when I first bought it my grandson loved it. However the novelty wore off very quickly especially as the velcro does not stay sticky for very long. So not exactly a long term toy, sadly.

I don’t know what to say about this toy, but I’m disappointed mainly with the finishing touches, the pieces are not properly sanded and painted I understand is hand paint but is like a child has done it. Many reviews I have read about this brand Melissa and Doug and they all point to the same. I can’t feel I acquired a quality product and I was really excited about it. I may return it as I can’t see this toy will last for long and the Velcro for sure is going to wear off quick. Gonna leave some pictures so customers can judge themselves. Banana and melon they look so fake……pear is actually the only fruit that saves the tray .
