My first RPi. I’m using primarily as an always on Wake on LAN controller for my big PC in my office, which was previously left on 24/7 for remote access. Works great. I’ve also set it up as a controller for my Ubiquiti UniFi access point. Great device and almost infinite possibilities. Looking forward to my young son getting old enough for us to play about with it together making robots etc

The device is crazy cheap and has been doing a great job as a kiosk solution for us. Two have been running for over a year with only heat sinks installed. We only use Chromium browser on them so not very CPU demanding tasks although have tested some YouTube videos on it as well – not particularly fast but manages to display full HD (there was a couple of moments on the B version when it skipped – haven’t tested on B+ yet but in theory should be better with a 1.4Ghz vs. 1.2GHz CPU). The B+ fits the old original Pi case as per attached pictures. I have come across some power consumption information that indicate that this version has slightly increased and can draw 1.2AMP (6.5 Watt) so be aware of this.

I bought a raspberrt pi after looking into various options for running a retropie/emulation setup into my TV. With this in mind the pi itself is a great bit of kit that works well following the various instructions and tutorials online. The Build of the pi feels sturdy and nothing feels lime it’s going to get damaged too easily on it. The micro SD slot is slightly fiddly however. The other Issue to be aware of is that pi doesn’t come with the case, input devices ( you need a keyboard to get anywhere)., SD card, power supply, HDMI cable. But some people will own some of these already. But other may not. It does make it something of a mixed game unless you know what you are doing with pi in advance.overall good product for a niche crowd.

I love Pi computers, they are so versatile. This was a drop-in replacement, along with a new case for my Pi 3 (which will become a retro games console) as a media server. The upgrade involved nothing more than swapping machines and the MicroSD card. It feels just that bit more snappy, I’ve not done any proper measurements but it feels faster overall, although I’ve moved my media from an old HDD to SSD too as part of the media server upgrade.I would always recommend at least one Raspberry Pi to anyone interested in Linux, or anyone who wants to make, build or create something around a low-cost computer core, as well as getting kids into computers they way we did back in the 80’s.

Hands down, the best purchase I have ever made. There are innumerable things you can do with the Pi, but I (and likely most) people use it as a retro gaming/media center/desktop device. The 3B+ comes with an HDMI port, four USB ports, an Ethernet port, built-in Wi-Fi and an AV port, for those without HDMI TVs.Why buy the overpriced and under-supported NES or SNES Mini Classics with 20 games, when you can buy a Pi for a fraction of the cost, and play every game from the ZX to the PSX/PSP (literally thousands of titles)?Install KODI to alternate use as a media center, or install Pixel as a workable desktop/laptop replacement. The Pi is priceless, but you can buy one on here for about £33.00. Think of it as an investment. You will NOT be disappointed.

Let’s be honest, if you’re looking at this product the chances are you know what a Raspberry Pi is, and have a usage in mind for it, and are just looking for which version you want to buy.I chose the Pi 3B+ because I wanted the extra CPU and RAM, but mostly because I wanted its built-in network booting ability – I configured it to boot over the network so no SD card was required. However, I found it a bit flaky, sometimes booting and sometimes not, and usually not booting from the network at all after a soft reboot. It seems that’s a known issue, and it feels like they rushed it out with fairly poor network boot code in ROM, thus the 4 stars. Also, with no SD card in, I was finding poor performance, and seeing kworker kernel processes taking far more CPU than they should. I put in an old small micro SD card with nothing more than a new netboot.bin binary on it, and the problems went away – but not having to have an SD card in it at all was part of the appeal, so it’s a shame to have to do that. That said – it’s only reading that one file from it on boot and not writing to it, so shouldn’t suffer from SD card corruption problems.Pis are excellent, flexible little computers for a wide range of tasks – there’s a reason so many millions have been sold! That said, for some projects, you could consider something a lot smaller – an Arduino, or my current favourite ESP8266, which is much smaller, much much cheaper and ideal for simple stuff like temperature probes or relay drivers.

I was one of the unfortunate ones whose Raspberry Pi broke within 6 weeks of using it; the Pi was completely unresponsive when connected to the power supply, and was unable to read the memory card and thus boot up the operating system.Whilst this is not the fault of Almost Anything, their customer service has been appalling since requesting a replacement. I was told to send my faulty Pi back to AA which I have done, and I have not heard anything since. They are not responding to emails or messages through Amazon, and I am unable to find a suitable contact number to ring them on.To summarise – the Pi is a great product (assuming its not faulty!) – wish the same could be said for Almost Anything’s customer service!

I bought this from “Almost Anything Ltd”. This unit failed within a few weeks and interestingly, it was only used once (to set up and install Raspian) then when tried again failed to show anything on the screen. I used to be a Java programmer and network administrator (on Novell networks) so yes I have exhausted all the avenues to resolve this and this unit is definitely duff. Yes most problems are software based despite people claiming it’s the hardware, but my unit was duff.

Bought specifically to run Retropie (so I could relive my youth with perfect emulation of SNES, Megadrive, N64 etc), it’s a perfect emulation machine for under £35!With WiFi, Bluetooth and full USB connectivity out of the box, I was playing Super Mario Kart with a pair of 8BitDo SN30 Pro pads within half an hour of opening the box. It’s worth noting that the official Raspberry Pi PSU I bought with my Pi3 Model B isn’t powerful enough for this newer ‘B+’ model. It’s only 2.5A output, were as the B+ needs a stable 3A or you get ‘under voltage’ alerts.
